Update after move: The gentlemen were very friendly; however, they were in a huge rush even though I didn't even have enough furniture to move for the two hour minimum time allotment. My office I was moving items to is only 10 minutes from my house, where the items were stored. Two large desks (consisting of two separate boxes each desk) and two lateral file drawers, all items still in their factory packaged condition AND a 6 foot table top, loosely covered in a blanket were all piled onto each other on a 1.5 foot dolly which didn't even cover 1/4 of the surface of the desk boxes. We are talking over 600 lbs on this little dolly. Did it topple going down the truck ramp. Of course it did. I was afraid it hurt the guys as they did try to save it. Did it damage the items. Of course it did, what does one expect? This is professional movers? I paid almost $300 for the security that my items would be moved in a professional way and this is the service I get? I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this. I quite sure they didn't realize I was watching them. They apologized. As my husband and I opened the desk box to assemble that evening, the corners were broke off. The driver also apologized for not wrapping the two love seats for protection, he said he forgot. The only items somewhat covered was the blanket put on top of the table top of the mound of 600lb towering mess. It just blew off in the disaster of coming down the ramp.
We hired Two Men and a Truck for our move from Champaign to Mahomet in May, the movers were absolutely awful. One spent half of his time talking on his phone, they dropped our dinning room table on the concrete patio, scratched our brand new hardwood floors and dented our washer trying to get it into the laundry room by ramming it through the doorway. We filled out a company review, we were contacted by management and encouraged to make a claim. We did, well it is October and they never paid a claim or even had the decency to call us to let us know why they didn't. I have read the reviews, it appears as though sometimes they do a good job, maybe the movers were having a bad day? maybe management lost our claim? this is an isolated incident and we are just unlucky or the company cannot consistently keep up the good work. Find another moving company for your furniture's sake.
I was very hesitant to use thus service after reading the reviews here, however, I was very impressed. There was a bit of miscommunication about the price and I did not get the estimate email. This is partially my fault as I set the move date for less than a week after my call. The movers were early to arrive, very personable and professional. They were careful with my things and helped me make sure anything I needed help putting back together was taken care of. I received two follow calls throughout the day to make sure everything went well and I was happy. I am very satisfied with the service.
My husband and I are very happy with the services provided by Two Men and a Truck. Dalton, Brian and Greg arrived within the scheduled start time and they wasted no time from the second they stepped into our apartment to the time they left our house. They all took great care with our furniture, and there were no problems with damaged items or walls at either location. In the end, they worked quickly and came in under time, saving us money. I would recommend Two Men and a Truck in Champaign and I would use them again if needed.
Two Men and a Truck did not estimate the job well and charged me $400 more plus my recliner was broken and so was a lamp.
I will see if Two Men and Truck handle the back end more professionally than the actual move. They have the option to deny this incident happened and blame the damage on the trucking company that safely delivered the items to my garage with professional care. I'll keep you updated.
I scheduled this move 3 weeks ago. I was told I would be the first move of the day, they get in the office at 8 and would be at my house by 8:30 am. They called to confirm and told me the same thing this past Thursday. I just received a call from a Bloomington driver telling me they just had to stop for gas first thing in the morning and would take about an hour to get to Champaign, so they would get here about 9:30. He said they help the Champaign office sometimes and I wouldn't be charged for the time it took them to drive here. Very poor communication and organization. I really hope the actual move goes better than it has started. It should have been a very simple move.
