Slow, not that cheap, and not that good. I know people say it's inexpensive, but $9 for a meal that isn't that good is not cheap. There was only one group seated waiting for their meals so we thought it would be quick since no one else was ordering or waiting. There was only one gentleman working so we had to wait about 5 minutes before he took our order, and then waited another 15 minutes to get our full order of two specials. When the food came, nothing really stood out. The meat was massively over seasoned and dry. The other meal just didn't taste good all around so we ended up eating about half and skipping the rest. The place is simple, clean, and if you like that style of food it might be good. But we just didn't enjoy it for multiple reasons.
Bonus: even though there are only two people working in this restaurant, it is the cleanest place I've been in the Champaign-Urbana area!
The food is delicious, also it is good option for non-spicy lovers.
One of my favorite spots on campus. The vegetarian #202 is my usual go to. A bargain at $7.09, it includes seasoned rice, a pita, and a daily varying sampler platter which usually includes servings of about 4 of the following: outstanding lentil soup, falafel, mixed bean soup, fresh vegetable soup, amazing salad, spinach with chickpeas, hummus, and sometimes other delicious foods. Oh and a drink too!
Always fresh, tasty, and tons of food for the money. Maybe not the place to choose if it's busy and you're in a rush, but at all other times well worth it. They also play NPR and assorted classical and international music for an interesting auditory experience you won't get at any other restaurant I can think of.
The lamb kabob sandwich is DELICIOUS. The falafel is also very very good. Wonderful food, mediocre service, not exactly a classy joint. That lamb kabob sandwich made it worth it, though. Definitely the place to go for middle eastern food in the area.
This is the best middle-eastern restaurant in town. It is a very low-profile place so you shouldn't expect anything fancy and the service is not too fast as there are only two brothers running the entire restaurant. If you appreciate good food and are not in a hurry, this is the place to go.
The #201 Falafel sandwich is also very tasty!
Give it a try you won't regret it!
